Questions about posters

Is the download a real file or a screenshot?

A real file. The PNG is drawn at the exact pixel size you choose, and the PDF is a vector document in which every coastline and letter is an outline. Neither is a capture of the web page.

What sizes can I print?

PDFs come at 8 × 10 in, 18 × 24 in, 24 × 18 in and A3, upright or wide. Because they are vector files they also print sharp at any other size with the same proportions, such as 16 × 20 in, 12 × 16 in, A4 or A2. How to choose a size.

Will my fonts look right at the print shop?

Yes. Lettering is converted to outlines before the file is made, so the print shop does not need the fonts and nothing can be substituted.

Can I write my name in another language?

Yes. The built-in typefaces cover Latin, Greek and Cyrillic scripts as vectors. Text in other scripts, such as Bengali, Chinese or Arabic, is drawn with the fonts on your own device at high resolution and placed on the poster as an image.

Is there a watermark?

There is a small “worldtripmap.com” mark at the bottom, and a switch to turn it off. Leaving it on helps other people find the site, which we appreciate, but it is your poster.

Do I need to pay or sign up to download?

No. Designing and downloading are free and there is no account.
